Police Arrest Chadian, Nigerien Kidnap Suspects, Recover N10m

The Nigerian police, on Monday, in Abuja, reportedly arrested eighty one suspects of kidnappers, armed robbers and cyber scammers in Taraba state, Kaduna state, Kano state, Katsina state, Sokoto and Zamfara state.

These arrrested suspects including those dressed in military camouflage and Nigerian Air Force uniform, allegedly abducted a famous businessman in sokoto state.

They included a gang of Chadian and Nigerien kidnappers and six ex-convicts.

Muhammed, the gang leader, speaking through an interpreter said,

We became friends when we were about completing our jail terms in the Katsina Correctional Centre.

That was when we decided to shift from armed robbery to kidnapping.

This is because we believed we can make enough money from it.

While speaking, he said that their first target was a Sokoto-based businessman, whose family parted with millions of naira.

The suspect said;

Our gang operates on the Zaria-Kaduna-Kano Expressway 12 times, and we’ve collected several millions of naira in ransom from their victims’ families.

The sum of ten million naira was recovered from them as well as rifles and rounds of live ammunition.

A member kidnap gang member, who usually dressed in military camouflage, Imuranu Ibrahim, confessed that the gang had carried out 6 robbery operations on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Another one, Dayabu Saadu, said,

“A Fulani man from Jaji provided the military uniform we are wearing.”

While speaking via an interpreter, he said,

I am a farmer and also an armed robber.

I have engaged in six robberies before I was arrested.

“On one robbery operation @ Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, we saw a car conveying a man, his wife, mother and their two children.

We pulled out the woman from the vehicle, raped her in the presence of her husband, children and mother-in-law.”

However, they’ll be charged to court following the conclusion of the ongoing investigation processes.
